How to speak with controlled mind and pace

“Mind flooded with thoughts
He tried to put them into words
His unconfidence led his pace uncontrolled
That was where he lost his communication skill.”

How many times has it happened with you that you try to communicate in English but fail to put your thoughts into words? The notions, as soon as they hit your tongue, they get scrambled and scattered, and all you end up with is disgracing yourself.

We all focus more on speaking, that’s it! But if it carefully noted, there are 3 main causes to this melancholy:
1. Uncontrolled mind
2. Lack of confidence
3. Comparison with foreign accent.

Talking about the 1st cause, the amateurs completely rush into words, regardless of the pace. They do not have a proper control over their minds. It is like a jet of notions coming out from a nozzle at high velocity. To overcome this, one just needs to calm down and keep the pace low. Think, speak, repeat! No matter how slow, keep your mind under your control and maintain a pause between words to keep pace control.

Moving on to the next, in most cases, the common thing people
face is lack of confidence. Whatever you speak, be clear enough. If you are right at what you speak, you’ll create an impression. If you make a mistake, the opposite fellow can correct you, so you can learn and eventually, excel.

Finally comes the ego problem; the comparison. We have an outdated, common habit by comparing our accents with that of British and American English. Be original. If you try to copy, the aftermath can lead you to confusion and mumbo-jumbo of your own words. Better follow your own accent. You are the best speaker when you are yourself!

Tip: When you speak, you can get rid of ‘a’s by replacing them by a small pause to avoid your confidence to descend.

Increase your Vocabulary

Many times, it happens that we are reading a paragraph and we come across such words that compel us to scratch our heads. We do not understand the meaning of such words and we Google it or refer any dictionary. We look up the meaning, try to remember it and there we are enjoying the celebration if remembering a new word! But after 5 minutes, we even forget what the word was. Implementing that word in daily conversation is a far thing before which we need to increase our ‘RAM'. So here it is.

First of all, make a separate small note book or a dairy for tough words. So whenever you come across such words, you note them down in the diary. You can read any newspaper or any article on internet for getting new words or simply any novel you love. Make sure it contains the language bit high so that you can actually find tough words.

After making a note of that word, see what it defines by using Google or any dictionary. Write down its meaning across it. Note that you need you understand the meaning rather than just mugging the definition. Even if the meaning is too tough to understand, simply use Google Translate and translate the word in any other language you are comfortable with.

But the thing doesn't just end here. After writing down the meaning, all you got to do is just frame a meaningful sentence or more using that word in it.

You also have to focus on the pronunciation of the word. If you know how to pronounce the word, it won't be difficult to remember it's meaning. But if you do not know the pronunciation of the word itself, remembering it's meaning will be out of the league.
95% of the battle is won in just 3-4 steps. But what matters the most is the remaining 5%. No great achievement is achieved without practicing. You need to spend a few minutes in brushing up your mind with the new words everyday. Keep adding new words if they come across your eyes and let your practice grow wide. Of course you can at least spare just 10-15 minutes to develop yourself!

Adding more, there is something I would like to share that will make your learning simpler. Do you use Facebook and Instagram? Of course you do, it is a stupid question to ask! HEHEHE! Well, you just need to search out for pages that focus on new words and vocabulary and follow such pages. That's it! You will stay regularly updated with any new word the page comes up with. So while scrolling down the site, you can just have a look. Hardly 2 minutes it takes to roll your eyes over the word and there you are! You just added a new word in your brain.
Just imagine if you even learn just one word a day, you can increase your vocabulary by leaning 30 new words in a month! Amazing, right? So forget all those cramming up stuff. That is the best way to ruin your vocabulary. If you want to ruin your vocabulary, I would strongly recommend you to cram the words, which would be a futile deed.
Just 10-15 minutes a day, come ahead with new words, practise and enrich you brain dictionary. Now you roll with the words in your speech! Enjoy!

How to read efficiently

It is too common nowadays that many people become victim of boredom while reading anything, whether if it's a newspaper, a novel, a book or a magazine. Many people suffer the irritation that whenever they open the book, after reading a para or two, their hands immediately respond to the command of the mind to keep the book away. The thing they lack is the ‘efficiency in reading'.

When you start reading, the first and the foremost thing you need to do is to keep yourself calm. If you are running a glut of thoughts in your mind and trying to read, there is no way you can achieve focus in what you read. Be cool, be calm. You just need to take few deep breaths before you start reading.

If you are reading an article or a news, first, go through it quickly without pausing in between (this is also known as skimming) so that you can get a brief idea of what you are going to read.
While reading, you need not speak up the words loudly in your mind. This may make you focus more on the words rather than what the author is trying to say. Have a pencil or pen with you and just move the point of it on the lines you are reading. This will help you not to lose track.

If we talk about the learning write-ups, we need not mug up what is written in order to gain the knowledge. You have to know the meaning and have an idea of it. Suppose, if you read, "When piston in the cylinder gets displaced from top dead centre to bottom dead centre, it is known as stroke."  You need to visualize what you read in order to understand it. Here, if said in simple words, the piston moves from one end to another in the cylinder and that phenomenon is called a stroke.

Simple as that! For understanding purpose, keep it as simple as possible. Make use of the technical terms only while representing it to someone. I hope now you've got the point. For more effectiveness, you can write down the main points while reading or just highlight them.
For a better concentration, you can spray a perfume with pleasant fragrance in between the book 5-10 minutes before you start reading. This sounds quite unusual but it works. Sweet fragrance stimulates our mind. It can help us gain focus on our reading.
In spite of all these, if you still face problems while reading, I think you must search for a good psychiatrist in the yellow pages. Just kidding!
Go for the solutions for a better reading, continue for few days. You will surely experience a remarkable difference in your reading.

Muster the Courage

Ever faced in situation in which you want to speak to someone in English but couldn’t because of the fear that people may find it amusing? Yeah?

Fear is the biggest challenge one faces while achieving something great. It is a big rock just before the cave of gold. Once you’ve conquered the rock, you rule over the gold!

When you communicate with someone, it is you and the other person that must matter the communication, not the audience watching you. You speak for your own self. You speak to enrich your personality, your dignity. You must not give any care to what others do, what others think and what others react.

When this revulsion gets occupied over your mind, the aftermath may leave you in regression which I had experienced during my school days. Well, school is the initial stage of life where we learn the basic things but just like most people, I too felt ashamed of speaking English. When I tried to speak, my friends laughed at me, leaving me embarrassed. I walked to my home thinking that I had the opportunity but I kicked it just because others were laughing at me! Worse still, I was sitting there, frustrated and my friends even might have forgotten the laugh. I wasted the time in which I could have built myself, just because others were laughing at me.

I stood up. I thought of not to care what others think. I spoke English. Grammatical mistakes, lack of fluency, improper pronunciation, the English was just for name sake you can say, but I gradually improved. Today, I am better at English and can easily deliver a speech in public with no hesitation.

You are never too old to learn. When you learn something, people will laugh. They will laugh at first but later, it will be you who will laugh at them.

Never fear. Speak. Talk. Make mistakes. Because that is how you can learn, you can improve!

Build Your Confidence

Ever tried to speak on any topic in public? Every gathered guts to stand up and speak in front of 250 human beings? No? Ask yourself why and the only answer you get will be lack of confidence.

When you have two ways to choose from and if both the ways mislead you, there is always a third way you need to carve out. There is either lack of confidence or over-confidence. You need to walk on the mid-path, confidence.

Confidence, in simple words means presence of mind. You cannot gain confidence over-night. What you need is practice. Confidence is a skill that needs to be developed. Gather a small audience of your friends and delivery speech in front of them. Even speak to yourself while standing in front of the mirror. The key to confidence is self-trust and self-motivation. Trust yourself enough that you will do well and motivate yourself enough that you can achieve the skill.

The more you will speak, the more confidence you will gain. Mistakes are inevitable while practicing but they are the key ingredients that will boost up the confidence in you. Speak whenever you get chance. Note down the moments you stop and work upon those weak points. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It is the failure that leads the man towards success. If you are failing, it means you are trying and if you are trying, success is just at your doorsteps already!

Execute your Fluency

The special ingredient of your speech is fluency.
Believe it or not, the root of fluency is the confidence you hold within you.

Imagine yourself wearing an Armani suit, walking up on stage to receive an award. Pride in yourself and glow on your face. But looking at the crowd, you get hit by the mumbo jumbo, thinking what if you would go wrong in front of all.

What you need to do is to relax. The solutions to all problems lie in the simplicity of it. Relax, breathe and speak. Speak while your mind leads your tongue.
People have a very negative notion that being fluent means to speak rapid English. The notion is completely false. The true meaning of being fluent is being clear. No matter if you are fast or slow at delivering a speech, if you make yourself clear enough for everyone to understand, you are fluent.

There are main 3 keys to the lock of fluency:
1. Be confident
2. Let your mind lead your tongue
3. Speak every word clearly with correct pronunciation

These key points will help you to be a master at fluency. Initiate with a slow start. Even if you speak just 10 words per minute, not a problem at all, trust me! But just try. And I assure you that if you keep practising, you will achieve pace day by day, gaining the proper way to speak fluent English.
Keep practising! Good luck!

The Trick behind Pronunciation

Speaking in English is not the only thing that matters. Pronunciation of the words contributes massively to your speech.

There are some words in English that may sound improper when you speak them but however, it is the way how they must be pronounced. Just as a simple instance, many pronounce ‘pronunciation’ as ‘pro-noun-sia-shan’ when it’s actually ‘pro-nun-sia-shan’.

You might get your tongue completely twisted while pronouncing some words. The best way you can deal with it is to disintegrate the word into parts. Break a big word into small parts and then try to pronounce.

For example, there’s a word ‘brobdingnagian’ which means something huge or gigantic. Try to pronounce it. Got your tongue twisted? Too obvious, isn’t it? So here’s a trick:

First, consider the part ‘brob’ and pronounce it.
Let it be followed by the part ‘ding’. So now it becomes ‘brob-ding.’
Give it another step and go for the ‘na’. You’ve reached almost the top and it becomes ‘brob-ding-na’.
The final step, just add the ‘gian.’

So now, it’s ‘brob-ding-na-gian’.
You’ve hit the dart. That’s it. Try this for every word that gets you bewildered. Cool trick, isn’t it!

Practise with small words, then medium and finally leap over the brobdingnagian words.
Till then, keep practising, explore new words, good luck!

Easy Start-Up English

Many have aims to work in any MNC or a private company. They skill in every needed quality. The tree that hinders their path is the tree of English.

English is a tree; it has many branches, the root is too firm and if taken care of, it can grow huge and can provide us a shade and sweet fruits.

It is too easy to stress over but too hard to be taken for granted. The normal and the most common way through which people learn English is by grabbing a dictionary, writing down the meaning and stick it to their grey cells; the most ineffective way to learn.

Starting it with a simple step, speak about 4-5 lines about yourself or any other stuff you want or like to speak on. To achieve more proficiency, talk to yourself by looking in the mirror. Gradually, start conversations with your siblings or amigos. Make sure you have your friend who is fluent at English so that you have someone as your cicerone to correct you when you take a slip.

Do this for a half a month or continue for a full if required. After all, the more your practise, the faster to learn. If possible go on adding few sentences to your stuff and also a few words that can improve your vocabulary. When you achieve eminence over this basic, you can take a leap towards the next lesson.
